A first glimpse at iconic scammer Anna Delvey in the upcoming TV series

Ozark actor Julia Garner will star as the fake heiress in Netflix’s Inventing Anna

The first look at Shonda Rhimes’ upcoming Anna Delvey miniseries is finally here. A series of photographs show The Assistant actor Julia Garner in full Delvey get-up on the set of Shonda Rhimes’ Netflix series about the notorious grifter and her rise into the upper echelons of New York City’s social elite.

Inventing Anna is based on Jessica Pressler’s New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People”, detailing how she befriended and subsequently duped rich individuals out of thousands of dollars to pursue her dream of opening a private club in downtown Manhattan.

Garner stars as Delvey, who posed as a German heiress to help con her way into exclusive events and parties, becoming an Instagram icon and purveyor of courtroom lewks along the way.

The show will feature 10 episodes, and will also star Veep actor Anna Chlumsky, who plays a journalist attempting to uncover the truth about Delvey as she goes on trial for her crimes.

Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox will play a personal trainer – referred to in the original New York Magazine expose as taking a “motherly” interest in Delvey – while Katie Lowes will play friend Rachel, who “worships” the scammer according to Variety.

Alexis Floyd, best known for her appearances in The Bold Type, a show inspired by the life of former Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Joanna Coles, will play a hotel concierge who is drawn in by Anna’s charm and introduces her to New York’s party scene.

An official release date for the show is yet to be announced. But take a first look at the images below.
