The tenth American Horror Story will unite fan fave cast members

Ryan Murphy says the season could be its last

With the ninth instalment of American Horror Story over, creator Ryan Murphy is already hinting at clues for season ten, which he says will reunite fan-favourites from across the series.

The series was renewed for its tenth edition back in 2018 but has yet to be confirmed for an 11th season, which means season ten could be its last.

The Pose director told Deadline: “We’re working on an idea for season ten that I think people will love because it’s about reuniting fan-favourite actors to come back – because it might be our last season.”

He continued: “I’ve been quietly reaching out to various people. Some people I haven’t reached out to yet because I was like, ‘do I have a role for them?’ So far, everybody I reached out to said ‘yes’, so that’s been great.”

While nothing has been confirmed so far, early repeat actors throughout the series include Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Taissa Farmiga, and Lily Rabe. “I'll just sort of say, the people who helped build this show into what it is, who believed in it from the beginning, have been contacted and are interested," he hinted. "So if you look at the iconography of the first three seasons, you can figure who I've gone to and who might be coming back.”

When it comes to the theme, Murphy said: “We flirted with aliens, we flirted with space, we flirted with some things that were more interesting than others. I think that at the heart of it, it's always about Americana.”

Considering the previous season 1984 merged slasher movie themes with good old 80s America, could this mean we’re headed to the Space Race?

In the meantime, read about the sprawling queer legacy of American Horror Story.
