To further whet your appetite – as if you need it – creators have dropped another trailer, this time focusing on the show’s new characters. Called The L Word: Generation Q, the eight episode revival sees the return of several original cast members, including Katherine Moennig (Shane), Leisha Hailey (Alice), and Jennifer Beals (Bette), and the arrival of lots of new faces. The trailer opens with Shane stepping off a plane and into a surprise party, reuniting with Alice and Bette. We then quickly meet the new characters as they swoon over a guy moving into their apartment block. Excitable Finley (played by Jacqueline Toboni) rushes down to greet the new arrival before returning to share the good news with Micah (Leo Sheng), exclaiming: “He’s gay, I asked!” The trailer continues Bette’s journey of trying to become the first lesbian mayor of Los Angeles, sees new girl Dani (portrayed by Arienne Mandi) promising an elaborate wedding proposal to Sophie (Rosanny Zayas), and follows the cast through the twists and turns of life – AKA sex, love, and heartbreak. Generation Q is bringing more diversity to a show previously criticsed for depicting a limited view of the queer experience (the original L Word aired between 2004 and 2009). The revival is set to shake up issues of race, bi-identity, and queerness, bringing it very much into 2019. Watch the new trailer below, and catch up on the previous teasers here and here.
