The show opened with a series of loose jersey dresses complete with raglan sleeves and mesh panelling. There was a utilitarian touch to the flat mannish sandals, while python waistcoats and washed leather jackets added texture to the relaxed silhouette. The collection’s effortless appeal was marked even further by the barely-there make up and wet look hair, which – funnily enough – didn’t look out of place considering there was a downpour in Milan that morning. As usual, the collection didn’t disappoint on the bag front either. The folded clutches and canvas and woven leather totes reaffirmed that it’s the practical take on luxury that continues to be Veneta’s biggest asset. Escape the algorithm!
