Since 1970, the month of June has become dedicated to remembering the Stonewall Riots and celebrating queer lives, identities and liberation. Over the years, it has also become a time when brands and companies have come out in support of the LGBTQ+ community. The beauty industry has always owed a significant amount to queer culture. It’s an industry that cannot be separated from queer people – from trends rooted in the community (particularly the QPOC and drag community), to the MUAs, hairstylists and creatives who have shaped what it looks like today. While corporate support for Pride has dropped off over the last few years, some brands have remained steadfast in their solidarity. MAC Cosmetics announced lesbian pop-princess Chappell Roan as the face of its VIVA GLAM campaign, with three limited-edition lip shades and each purchase giving back 100 per cent of the selling price. MAC is also making a $300,000 donation to Roan’s own non-profit, the Midwest Princess Project, and its partnering trans-led charities. Another brand giving back is Deciem, whose portfolio includes brands like The Ordinary, NIOD and Loopha. The brand has launched a new queer storytelling campaign, alongside its ongoing donations to 2SLGBTQIA+ organisations worldwide, which have totalled more than $2.7 million Canadian dollars since 2024. Elsewhere, Oribe, the professional haircare brand, pays homage to some of New York’s most iconic community leaders and artists, including Amanda Lepore, Ceyenne Doroshow, Maya Margarita and Ananina, in their campaign shoot featured in the gallery above. And Aesop returns with the sixth edition of its Queer Library, a takeover of its Soho store where visitors can select a complimentary book from one of 33 LGBTQIA+ authors. Read on for the other beauty drops this June. LOEWE TOMATO LEAVES BODY COLLECTION LOEWE keeps leaning into its natural scent universe, this time expanding its Tomato Leaves range into body care.
