Whack on some matching leather outfits and paint the town pumpkin, that’s what! Amidst swirling rumours that Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet were no longer an item, the pair proved the naysayers wrong with fashion as their main tool of communication, arriving at Marty Supreme’s LA premiere in perfectly coordinated Chrome Hearts outfits. A long-time fave brand of Timmy’s (remember that monochrome pink look earlier in the year), the actor paired his orange leather suit with a silky button down, orange Timbs and a paddle-shaped man bag, a nod to the table tennis playing protagonist of Marty Supreme. Next to him, Jenner wore a cut-out column gown with stacks of silver crosses around her neck, plus some bright orange talons to bring everything together nicely. Though orange may be the universal colour of ‘roadwork ahead’, nothing says EVERYTHING’S FINE like two people in flawless step with one another (chromatically speaking). And though this article did run through several working titles such as “Timothée and Kylie are having a pumpkin-off” and something else about them “turning into basketballs”, what I soon came to realise is that these outfits are nothing but a bold declaration of unity in the face of adversity. I stand with them. Also joining Timmy and Kylie on the Marty Supreme red carpet were the film’s co-stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion and Tyler, the Creator – and if it wasn’t for the couple’s tiger-tinged stunt, either one of them could’ve claimed the fashion crown too. A’Zion wore a slouchy Marc Jacobs suit from the AW18 runway, Paltrow wore a navy sleeveless gown from her own label GWYN, while Tyler looked like classic Tyler in tweed Bermudas and a fur trapper hat. And in other Marty Supreme fashion-related news, the film’s viral jacket continues to play havoc on the world’s hypebeasts, with so many of them rocking up at a Los Angeles pop-up yesterday that the cops had to be called. It’s all kicking off in Marty’s world.
