For generations, city dwellers have sought escape in the countryside. A Friday evening ritual of trains heading north, suitcases in tow, bound for fresh air, long walks and the faded grandeur of stately homes. It is this familiar British rhythm that Daniel Lee channels in Burberry’s Winter 2025 campaign.
Released Tuesday, September 2, the campaign, starring Rupert Everett and Dazed Spring 2024 cover star Luther Ford, was shot at Wolterton Hall in Norfolk – a Palladian-style house designed by Thomas Ripley, whose layered history and interiors set the tone for the season.
The casting underscores Lee’s vision of bringing actors to the forefront of the story. “It’s through incredible actors, and the films and TV they’ve appeared in, that we learn so much about the rules of dressing up,” Lee explains. “Rules, which we’ve unpicked to inform the collection. Old rules made into new rules; indoor furnishing fabrics made into outdoor clothes. Our cast of actors just chimed with the bohemian irreverence. And, of course, they know how to make clothes come alive.”
The collection itself reflects that tension between the practical and the ornamental, found in opulent country homes and film locations. Burberry’s heritage outerwear is reframed with detail: trenches in embossed leather, patchwork shearling coats and jacquard weaves inspired by centuries-old tapestries. Velvet brocade jackets recall flocked wallpaper, while equestrian tailoring in birdseye wool nods to country pursuits.
