Gone are the wax jackets, mini dresses, glittered cheeks and fairy-like accessories. In 2025, festival style is all grown up. Basically, we’ve swapped cute for cunt, and at Maiden Voyage this weekend, some attendees even had the word spelt out across their acrylics. Held in south London’s Burgess Park, the annual day festival returned on Saturday (August 9) with a bigger lineup and better fashion than ever before. Headlining this year’s bill was Florida rapper JT, who stepped in after Azealia Banks dropped out; Amaarae, who was celebrating the release of her third album Black Star; and Bree Runway, who features on Amaarae’s aforementioned album and joined her onstage to perform the new track. Morgane Maurice 2025 marked the sixth edition of the festival, which was founded in 2019 and is the lovechild of four of London’s biggest queer raves: Pxssy Palace, Adonis, Fold/Unfold and Tech Couture. It’s no wonder, then, that the four horsemen of London’s nightlife scene would throw a festival like no other. A special shoutout has to go to Bree Runway’s belt, which was made of Hot Wheels, but more generally, Maiden Voyage has undoubtedly raised the bar for day festival fashion. Sure, attendees at Charli xcx’s Lido festival pulled some major looks too (see here), and All Points East is still to come, but for now at least, Maiden Voyage takes the crown for best dressed.
