FashionRound-up Model uses Copenhagen catwalk to protest genocide in GazaMusician and model Jura just staged a surprise protest during Marimekko’s SS26 show, plus all the fashion news you missed this weekShareLink copied ✔️August 8, 2025FashionRound-up TextIsobel Van Dyke Copenhagen Fashion Week SS26 took over the Danish capital (and our social feeds) this week, bringing with it an abundance of rat bags, crocheted hats and designer flip flops. Known for its cute, playful aesthetics, frills and scalloped edges, yesterday (August 7), one runway took an unexpected political turn. During Finnish brand Marimekko’s catwalk show, hosted outside an industrial site near the city’s harbour, model and musician, Jura, pulled a Palestinian flag from her pocket and held it in front of her floral print mini dress as she walked. The flag read ‘ACT NOW AGAINST GENOCIDE’, and the model later posted a statement on Instagram: “The thing is, there is no future for us without Palestine. Don’t you get it? If we accept for Israel to starve away all of Palestine now, we accept the world’s wealthiest to control what minorities are up next for genocide. Don’t you get it? What happens to Palestine is everyone’s future.” She also urged people to use their platforms if they have one, just as she did during her moment on the catwalk. It’s not the first time we’ve seen protests at Copenhagen Fashion Week either, Alectra Rothschild’s AW25 Masculina collection included a segment of Donald Trump’s inauguration speech – specifically, the part in which he targeted the trans community – to protest for trans rights. Street style in Copenhagen has also consistently included the Palestinian keffiyeh, tied to bags and worn around necks (see here). Elsewhere this week, we ranked all the fake Met Gala looks from The Devil Wears Prada 2, caught up with Zendaya on becoming a shoe designer, and unpacked today’s golden age of fashion exhibitions.
