What went down at Martine Syms’ H&M event in New York

Taking place at the SoHo flagship store, over 300 guests came to mingle and get free screen-printed t-shirts and zines

Over the past couple of weeks, H&M has kick-started the next stage of its global event series. Travelling to London, New York, Stockholm and Berlin, the Swedish brand is celebrating its SS25 collection by calling on different female artists to create different concepts and artworks.

On Friday night, hundreds of people showed up to see what multidisciplinary artist Martine Syms had in store for her event.

From screenprinting t-shirts and DJ performances to a performance from Syms herself, below we broke down everything that happened on the night.

IT TOOK PLACE AT THE NYC FLAGSHIP STORE

Located right in the middle of New York City’s hustle and bustle shopping district, H&M’s SoHo flagship store played host to the event. Over 300 people wrapped around the corner of Broadway waiting for their chance to see the space transformed into a Martine Syms universe.

THERE WAS A SIGNING…

Alongside making a special artwork, for this event, Syms created a zine which was available for free on the night. Throughout the evening, she was signing zines and t-shirts with a screenprinted replica of her art piece.

… AND PERFORMANCES

Of course, every H&M event is only complete with some performances to either get the night started or send everyone home in a good mood. For this event, Brooklyn-based Sienna Fekete and musician KeiyA did DJ sets in the space. Syms herself also blessed her fans with her own short DJ set.

FAITH HARPER DID SOME VOX POPS

While crowds of people queued, New York City-based influencer Faith Harper took to the streets to interview the attendees. Since getting her start as one of the lead presenters for NAYVA, she has gone on to work with different fashion brands and build her own platform online.

THERE ARE STILL TWO MORE TO GO

If you never managed to make it to this event but happen to live in Stockholm or Berlin, you’re in luck! The following events will feature Gabbriette in Stockholm and COUCOU CHLOE in Berlin. Keep your eyes peeled here for more information.
