After hundreds of shows, celebrity appearances and viral moments, the AW25 fashion season is slowly drawing to a close. Over a month since it started, Miu Miu signals the nearing end of the glitzy whirlwind, which finishes officially tonight (March 11) with Saint Laurent. Delivering one of the most impressive front rows of the season, Miuccia Prada rallied some big names for Miu Miu’s AW25 catwalk, including the likes of A$AP Rocky, Sydney Sweeney, Mark Eydelshteyn, Jang Won-young, Joey King and Emma Corrin.
Equally exciting, however, were the names that walked the show. Mrs P makes a habit of surprising us with unexpected models – see previously, Chloë Sevigny, Mia Goth, Little Simz, FKA Twigs, Ethel Cain, Uma Thurman, Troye Sivan, and who could forget Willem Dafoe – and this season was no exception.
Sarah Paulson made her runway debut wearing an off-the-shoulder satin button-up, as did Delaware rapper Cortisa Star, who wore a floating shift and tailored grey coat. Musician Towabird was almost unrecognisable, sporting a 1920s-style cloche hat whilst girlfriend Renée Rapp sat front row, meanwhile Eliot Sumner made their return to the Miu Miu catwalk. Interestingly, all of these cameos happen to be modern-day LGBTQ+ icons. Perhaps this was Miuccia Prada’s way of saying ‘gay rights!’.
Elsewhere, fashion week regulars Gigi Hadid and Amelia Gray walked the show, whilst actress Laura Harrier and rapper Nettspend also made their catwalk debuts. As for the clothes, this season the brand swapped mini-skirts for mid-length hems, but stayed true to school uniform-like knee-high socks. Despite longer skirt lengths, it felt flirtier than previous collections, with a powdery palette of soft blues, pinks, lavenders and butter yellows.
There was a shift toward the 1930s too, apparent in the hairstyles, fur shawls and, surprisingly, the underwear – conical bras worn underneath shirts, creating pointed breasts that led the way. There aren’t many labels that could take inspiration from the wardrobes of 85-year-old women and transfer them to Gen Z rappers. Then again, this is Mrs P we’re talking about.
