Charli xcx is the new face of Acne Studios

The musician transforms from car mechanic to office siren as the Scandi house drafts her in as its SS25 muse

It might be Julia that’s used as a barometer for being everywhere, but Charli xcx herself isn’t far behind her when it comes to the air miles, with the singer taking a break from her ongoing world tour to star in Acne Studios’ latest campaign.

Shot by Talia Chetrit in Los Angeles, everyone’s fave brat strips off and slips into a succession of looks from the Scandi label’s SS25 collection, including bolshy, paint-splattered coated denim and a classic pair of tightie-whities, as well as a well-positioned, kidney-shaped tote which goes by the name of ‘Bowlina’ (that diva!)

Though on first glance there’s little similarity between Charli’s campaign and that of Kylie Jenner’s 2023 starring role, there is a bit of a connection. Last year, Jenner was doused in dirty black engine oil, while in this series, Charli is cast in the role of car mechanic, sliding under the chassis of a gleaming black automobile in a handful of Chetrit’s images. Plus, there’s another doppelgänger-y moment, as Charli is multiplied when she stares into a mirror.

Stepping out from under the car, at the other end of the scale Charli embodies the office siren trend in a tailored jacket, a pair of stiletto court shoes, and those tiny wireless glasses perched on the end of her nose. She’s done that hard graft – seems like now she’s got to balance the books.

Getting Charli in for an Acne campaign was seemingly a no-brainer. The musician has been linking up with a series of global brands, including the Swedish powerhouse, to create custom looks for the Sweat tour alongside Troye Sivan. In fact, the two looked to Acne Studios to kit them out for the show’s opening night in Michigan back in September, with Charli going goth in a black corset and a bunch of belts cinching her in at the waist.
