What started as a small batch of bootlegged Grateful Dead t-shirts has grown into a global juggernaut, and it’s pretty safe to say that most of us have, at one point or another across the last eight years, added an Online Ceramics tee (or five) to our wardrobes.

The brainchild of art school friends Alix Ross and Elijah Funk, the offbeat label has become known for its kitschy, tongue-in-cheek designs – from psychedelic mushrooms, to nihilistic teddies, to cutesy hippy-dippy styles that called for peace on earth – as well as its ongoing collaboration with A24, for which it plasters the film company’s movie graphics up and down classic merch items like hoodies, caps, and lighters.

Now comes a brand new book chronicling every release from start to finish, all the way from Online Ceramics’ early days back in 2016, to the year of our lord 2024.

Entitled Tricker’s Cabin: The Oral & Visual History of Online Ceramics, it’s packed from cover to cover with rare drops and forgotten merch, early zines and flyers, essays from fans and friends including writer Naomi Fry, TV personality Andy Cohen, and Euphoria costume designer Heidi Bivens, and chapters documenting wild events like the time OC went on tour with Dead & Company and their horror fest ‘Spookytober’, held annually on Halloween. Also hidden in there somewhere is a story about smoking DMT out of a potato, because why not?

The book’s release coincides with a big announcement from the Online Ceramics ranks, as Alix Ross confirms his departure from the label, leaving Elijah Funk to steer the ship alone. “After eight years of collaboration, Alix Ross is parting ways with Online Ceramics to pursue new ventures,” a press release explains. “Tricker’s Cabin is the final project from Funk and Ross under the original Online Ceramics banner. The book is both a capstone to an incredible partnership and an anthology of a singular, boundlessly creative friendship.”
