Despite the fact The Bear is a television show about the inner workings of a Chicago sandwich shop, for many it is actually a show about fashion. This became abundantly clear after the first season’s premiere, when a worldwide manhunt began to find the exact white t-shirt Jeremy Allen White’s Carmy was wearing (turns out it cost £100). Or in the season two finale, when Carmy gifts Sydney – played by Ayo Edebiri – a custom Thom Browne chef’s jacket. Or the numerous times places like GQ and Esquire have salivated over a cast wardrobe filled with Ralph Lauren, Supreme and Aimé Leon Dore.

Now with season three landing on Disney+, The Bear’s fashion fans have yet another moment to sink their teeth into. In the seventh episode, Sydney enters the back office of the sandwich shop in a navy smock and wide leg shorts, the look paired with white socks and black loafers. Though the outfit is quite lowkey and doesn’t appear on screen for that long, the eagled-eyed admins at Twitter account @ayoedebiristyle, spotted that the fit is none other than Comme des Garçons, from the label’s Girl SS24 collection. If her clothes are anything to go by, it seems that Sydney is doing a lot better for herself this season, and (no spoilers) ready to leave a few people behind – and what better way for the wardrobe team to signal that than a head-to-toe designer look.

In other fashion news this week, Glastonbury festival came to an end in Somerset, so we rounded up all the best dressed acts at Worthy Farm; Marc Jacobs staged his off-schedule AW24 show, and Cardi B turned up dressed as a giant pansy; ahead of Labour’s victory in yesterday’s election, we looked at how Keir Starmer is cosying up to fast fashion giant SHEIN; Taylor Swift inexplicably got her own V&A fashion exhibition for some reason; it was Missy Elliott’s birthday so we celebrated her Supa Dupa, extra style; from Naomi Campbell’s seminal retrospective to Swarovski’s travelling show, we rounded up the global exhibitions that should be on your radar; plus, German label Namilia dropped an ‘I love ozempic’ top at Berlin Fashion Week, and it looks like the joke fell flat.
