As the curtain falls on NYFW for another season, Paris Fashion Week is just around the corner. Coming at us at a heady speed is one of the most anticipated debuts of AW24, as Seán McGirr gets set to present his first ever McQueen collection to the world. Slightly ahead of that, though, he’s dropped a Valentine’s Day surprise in the form of a sneak-peek at his first campaign. Landing on the house’s Instagram this morning came two videos of late designer Lee McQueen’s original muses, models Debra Shaw and Frankie Rayder, captured by Tommy Malekoff in the woods wearing carved silver skull masks and looks from his first offering. The skull has been emblematic of McQueen from the brand’s inception: you’ll probably know it from the skull scarves that took over TikTok in 2022, having first become to the go-to for Y2K it-girlies like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen and Nicole Richie back at the turn of the millennium. With Rayder and Shaw slipping into simple black mini dresses, spidery knits, and louche trouser suits, there are also a few splashes of the classic scarlet McQueen tartan first seen as part of the designer’s controversial AW95 Highland Rape collection. The first McQueen show under Seán McGirr is scheduled for March 2 at 8PM Paris time. Keep your eyes on Dazed Fashion for everything you need to know.
