In case you’re not caught up with the campaign, it’s a style tribe glossary that contains everything you need to know about contemporary subculture “cores”, from extremely online E-boys to nature-loving cottagecore sprites (and if you want to keep up with fashion’s relentless trend cycles, you’re going to need it). So, you’d expect the whole A to Z to be out in force for the launch, right? You’d better believe it! With a stacked lineup of DJs and performers at each event, plus themed stalls and activities, there was something on offer for everyone. Find out everything you need to know about what went down below. ICONIC VENUES IN PARIS AND BERLIN HOSTED THE LAUNCH Zalando and adidas Originals pulled out all the stops to introduce their A to Z to the world, and the venues were no exception. In Berlin, visitors were treated to a night market at the former Kiez cinema Colosseum in Prenzlauer Berg, while the Parisian marché de nuit took place at 35-37 Rue des Francs Bourgeois, a cultural hub at the heart of the city’s historic Marais district. Plenty of room for the gorpcore bois and the blokette girlies alike. SUBCULTURAL ‘CORES’ TOOK CENTRE STAGE Photography Yannick Lampert, @yannickla In case you weren’t already sold on the concept of the subcultural glossary, the Paris and Berlin events gave visitors a way to get directly involved. Think: Y2K makeover stations, blokette-themed printmaking, witch core astrology readings, kids core bead crafting, and arcade core... arcade games. Of course, this was in addition to a whole host of food and drink stalls. THERE WAS AN IMPRESSIVE MUSICAL LINE-UP Photography Aurélie Chantelly, @aureliechantelly, courtesy of @360nbh Needless to say, Berlin is famed for its nightlife, so it’s no surprise that the city’s night market was soundtracked by a whole host of talented DJs and performers, including Cho Room, Hanaby, Helina, and Lovefoxy. A fortnight later, Paris definitely didn’t disappoint either. Sets from Tatyana Jane, Delawhere and Andrège Bidiamambu, and Jeune Pouce provided a welcome dance break from an evening of hair dyeing and experimenting with tooth gems, rounded out by a special performance from the French vocalist Ronisia. THE ADIDAS ORIGINALS WERE OUT IN FORCE, OBVIOUSLY Photography Aurélie Chantelly, @aureliechantelly, courtesy of @360nbh Hosted on Zalando’s website, the Streetwear A to Z is custom-made to help you shop the look, serving up a range of adidas Originals icons that can make your scout core dream or dark academia fantasy into a reality. Only fitting, then, that the iconic adidas stripes were peppered throughout the launch itself, on blokette football jerseys, princess core-pink tracksuits, and pairs of trainers all across the dance floor.
