In the past 30 years, the house of Prada has evolved from a humble, family-run leather goods business to a fashion powerhouse, consistently placing itself at the intellectual forefront of the luxury industry with its experimental but much-praised ready-to-wear collections and undertaking a wide range of cultural and artistic endeavours through the Fondazione Prada. The catalyst for all this, a certain canvas backpack that was to become the indisputable It-bag of the 1990s, was the vision of Miuccia Prada, the granddaughter in-law of Mario Prada, who joined the company in the 1970s and is now renowned as one of the most forward-thinking and culturally aware designers in fashion. The first Prada monograph, which is being launched this evening at the Prada store on Bond Street, charts the rise and rise of the company under Miuccia’s watchful eyes, featuring 700 pages of inspirational imagery and behind-the-scenes photography.

The book will be available to the public at Prada stores worldwide as well as on prada.com and selected bookshops, starting in November.
