To peek behind the curtain and into the engine room of a stylist’s secret domain? Well, thanks to 2023’s first Making It Up As We Go Along talk – a monthly panel where Dazed editors share their tips on working within the creative industry – you won’t have to imagine anymore. The talk, hosted by our very own Dazed Club creative director Jack Sunnucks, will see junior fashion and market editor Mirko Pedone and fashion coordinator Andra-Amelia Buhai reveal what it’s really like to work inside the sacred (but often misunderstood) space of a fashion cupboard, demystifying all the queries that you may have. The fashion industry can seem like an extremely daunting space to work within, let alone break into, and you’d be forgiven for not knowing where to start. But, luckily for you, that’s where Mirko and Andra come in. They’ll be sharing advice on everything from schmoozing PRs, shipping priceless couture around the globe, and what’s really inside a stylist’s most treasured possession – their kit bag. You’ll also learn about working closely with the fashion directors who formulate ideas for shoots, mastering the entire process from conception to research and eventually production. The talk will give an invaluable look behind the scenes of one of our industry’s most coveted roles, and won’t shy away from the hard truth beneath all that glamour. Grab a ticket before they go. The event will be held on Tuesday, January 24 at Dazed Space Studio, London; tickets are £8 via Eventbrite or free for Dazed Club Members. Register for Dazed Club here.
