WHY then are there images of people dressed in slouchy, airbrushed hoodies and BLACK teeth emerging from our street style dispatches from the most recent Copenhagen fashion week? Meme t-shirts? Spangled opera gloves? Exposed THONGS? Something’s not adding up! Was the image of the chic gallerist all a ruse from the Danish government to get people buying… Karlsberg?? Either way, showgoers on the outskirts of the SS23 Copenhagen Fashion Week bucked all the stereotypes you might associate with the gorgeous girls of Ganni, Saks Potts, and Stine Goya – a look that chimes with a new wave of designers like PLN, Jade Cropper, and Henrik Vibskov, who all offered a slightly darker take on scandi style. “As usual, August in Copenhagen was great,” says Dazed’s roving street style photographer Yu Fujiwara. “To escape the UK heatwave for some shinier weather – somehow I always feel the sunlight is so much more brilliant over there – bright colours, and nice people.” From 70s lotharios, to BDSM businessmen, and bristling-feathered animorphs, click through the gallery below to see the best in street fashion from this season’s CPFW.
