Take the supermodel-heavy Versace runways of the 90s, Thierry Mugler’s feature-length extravaganzas, and basically every single McQueen show, if you’re looking for examples. One designer who knows how to create a momenté herself is Miuccia Prada, who’s turned out plenty of jaw-dropout presentations in her time. Case in point: the AW22 menswear show, which took place in Milan back in January. Sure, the clothes that were created in partnership with right-hand man, co-designer Raf Simons, were good – all power-shouldered latex trenches and pumped up tailoring – but it was the model cast that marked this one as a standout of the season. Cut to Twin Peaks legend Kyle McLachlan opening the show to delighted gasps from the audience – which is a true feat in itself, when you consider just how hard it can be to impress the affected fashion press – before the likes of Asa Butterfield, Damson Idris, and Ashton Sanders paraded out behind him. It was a moment that harked back to Mrs P’s seminal AW12 show, in which Tim Roth, Adrien Brody, and Willem Dafoe walked. And then came Jeff Goldblum. Everyone’s fave internet zaddy closed out the show with typical panache, swaggering down the catwalk in a dramatic, fur-trimmed coat. Naturally, the internet went wild for the Jurassic Park icon’s appearance on the Prada runway, given he’d spent the last few years pledging his allegiance to the Italian house (including on the pages of this very magazine). Photography David Sims It should come as no big surprise, then, that Goldblum has made a comeback circa Prada’s latest campaign, alongside fellow catwalk model Damson Idris and newbie Remi Malek. Captured by David Sims, the three actors are seen wearing pieces from the soon-to-land offering, alongside cryptic images of items important to them – a pretty beaten-up teddy in Goldblum’s case, a balloon in Idris’s, and a birthday candle in Malek’s.
