Since joining the team in March 2021, Asha has played a pivotal role in defining the magazine’s global and kaleidoscopic outlook. Alongside editor-in-chief IB Kamara, the former fashion editor has packed our pages with images of Bajan carnivals, Olympian fashionistas, angsty teenagers, and geriatric clowns, drawing on his Dutch-Caribbean roots with infectious and overblown storytelling. “I am so proud of the work we have done over this past year to bring the new vision of Dazed to life,” Asha says. “I’m excited and honoured to take on a larger role as Fashion Director and work with Ib and the team to push it to an even higher level.” Based in the 10th arrondissement in Paris, Asha’s styling involves collaborations with photographers like Carlijn Jacobs, Paul Kooiker, Tim Elkaim, Rafael Pavarotti, not to mention Louis Vuitton, Dior, Off-White, Botter, Jacquemus, and Calvin Klein. Having kicked off his career in Amsterdam, Asha’s work is as cheeky as it is poetic, his shoot credits reading like a trawl net of emerging designers, found objects, and industry bigwigs – all of which he marries with sculptural silhouettes, bolshy colours, clashing textures, and movement. Stay tuned for the next issue of Dazed, which hits newstands next month, to see Asha’s work come to life.
