Shania Twain just resurrected her most iconic 90s look

...and it does impress us much (sorry not sorry)

Shania Twain’s “That Don’t Impress Me Much” may have been released all the way back in 1997, but in the 22 years since it first landed, its status as a certified bop has not diminished. Also standing the test of time is the all-leopard-print look, importantly avec hood and giant hat box, that she wears in the track’s accompanying video – as she mooches about in the desert regaling us with her disdain for rocket scientists, cars, and, more specifically, Brad Pitt.

Fast forward to now and Twain has once more dug out the leopard print, this time for an appearance in new, aptly-titled Orville Peck track “Legends Never Die”. Seen dueting with Peck on the stage of a drive-in cinema like the social-distancing queen she apparently is, Twain wears a 2020 riff on her OG outfit, comprising a bootlegged leopard print all-in-one trimmed with glittering crystal fringing (plus a jewelled stetson, which is basically a given). Peck, meanwhile, looks equally iconic in a pair of chaps that have been Swarovski'd to within an inch of their life, plus one of his signature fringed masks, and there’s even an appearance from Drag Superstar Jaida Essence Hall, who sits in the audience, as well as John Waters, who lends his voice to the video’s intro.

It’s actually been a pretty good few weeks for the fashions when it comes to music videos. With Beyoncé dropping the feast that was visual album Black Is King and repping everyone from Marine Serre and Burberry, through to Michaela Stark, Area, and D Bleu Dazzled, closely followed by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion stepping into matching Mugler lewks circa “WAP”, also turning looks this week were Kali Uchis and Rico Nasty, who channelled 00s era Dior, Versace, and Westwood inspo into the video for new track "Aquí Yo Mando". Long may it continue tbh – as always, we’re thirsty for more.
