Chances are, if you’re lucky enough to be able to get your hands on a designer bag, the last thing you’d do is drag it into a swimming pool, let it slowly fill with water, and watch as it sinks beneath the surface – but in a new short, sun-drenched film, that’s exactly what Chloe x Halle do.
Enlisted by Fendi to star in its latest #MeAndMyPeekaboo campaign, the sisters are seen standing in the middle of a tennis court looking extremely chic (though there’s not a tennis skirt in sight, fyi), as well as sitting around a dramatic dinner table laid with huge floral arrangements and all manner of incredibly glamorous crystalware.
Finally the film cuts to a hand serenely dragging a white version of the leather Peekaboo bag through the rippling water, before it submerges completely. Truly, not since the moment the Heart of the Ocean found itself casually flung into the water by old lady Rose at the end of Titanic has something so expensive been lost to the murky (okay fine, in this case not-so murky) depths.
With Fendi handing over full creative control of the film to Chloe x Halle, the two looked to their stylist Zerina Akers (who also works closely with Beyoncé) when it came to their clothing, and soundtracked the whole thing with new track “Busy Boy”, taken from their recently released album Ungodly Hour. Following in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and North West, the short explores the familial relationships that also underpin the Fendi label.
