Chanel’s upcoming Cruise show has been cancelled

It has also quietly shelved its London presentation

With the likes of Gucci, Dior, and Prada all postponing their upcoming Cruise shows, with the season slated to kick off in April, Chanel is the latest, and final, house to reveal its intentions to cancel the annual presentation.

Set to take place in Capri on May 7, the announcement is a result of the rapid spread of coronavirus.“Our foremost consideration is the health and well-being of our teams and guests,” read a statement from the label provided to FashionNetwork.com. “Chanel is examining alternative ways of presenting its collection in Capri at a later date and in a different format.”

Going on to explain it is “closely monitoring the evolution of the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic”, the house has also quietly shelved its London show, intended to be a replica of its most recent Métiers d’Art collection. The presentation was set to take place on June 4 at the Old Billingsgate.

“This situation, which is quickly evolving, requires a precise approach that takes into account local regulations,” the house added. “Chanel is fully committed to protect each employee and partner everywhere the company operates.”
