But the singer and actor swapped her usual position on the front row tonight for one that’s less familiar: a spot on the catwalk. Hitting the runway during Marc Jacobs’ AW20 show – which was inspired by the “beauty, promise, sparkle and grit” of a now-disappearing New York, the singer appeared side by side with another model. She was dressed in black tuxedo pants and a black bra, with a pair of opera gloves for good measure, and trailed a zebra print coat on the floor as she walked (chic!) Cyrus and Jacobs have a history, of course – she appeared in the designer’s SS14 ad, shot by David Sims. One of the images caused online complaints due to the fact that a fellow model was lying prone near to the singer, prompting an op-ed response on the Guardian about “female corpses” becoming a “fashion trend”. More upliftingly, last year the two also teamed up on a hoodie which donated 100% of its purchase price to Planned Parenthood. Jacobs’ AW20 show, styled by Katie Grand, celebrated “the intersection of chaos and form”, and featured a performance choreographed by Karole Armitage in aset staged to look like a bistro.
