On Sunday night former Paramore singer Hayley Williams surprised attendees at Collina Strada’s eco-conscious AW20 show with a performance of her first solo single “Simmer”, and now, Caroline Polachek has graced the stage at Puppets and Puppets, which held its latest presentation in New York last night.
Although Polachek did not perform (weep), her presence on the catwalk was a show of its own, with the singer elegantly gliding down the runway in a green satin gown with protruding hips and an OTT pink collar. “I feel like a silky cartoon”, she explained of her appearance.
A sci-fi inspired collection which dabbled in the realms of fantasy, this season the brand presented a series of villain-worthy silhouettes inspired by cartoonist Jean Giraud, known for his work on Marvel comics. The show’s pantomime-esque opening look, which featured a layered chiffon shirt, silver metallic leggings, and a belt with a cartoon cookie buckle, set the scene for further whimsical looks including a blue leotard worn over matching blue tights and a headpiece resembling animal ears.
Polachek was not the only musician to storm the runway last night, however, with legendary Blondie singer Debbie Harry also dropping by Coach to perform her 1979 hit “Dreaming” during the show’s finale.
