Amongst the news that My Chemical Romance are going on tour and The All-American Rejects have hinted at the same thing on Twitter, Hayley Williams performing at NYFW cements the idea that we are experiencing a true emo renaissance. 

Taking over Collina Strada’s show in New York last night, the Paramore singer performed her first solo single, “Simmer”, which was released a couple of weeks ago. 

“THIS WAS SUCH A COOL MOMENT TO BE A PART OF,” Williams shared on Instagram. “(I) don’t doubt it is one of the most exciting, unique, and inspiring shows at #nyfw this season.”

“Who would’ve thought when i wrote the lyrics,” (‘wrap yourself in petals for armour’) “i would get a chance to sing them on a stage made of real grass, surrounded by people dressed in flowers, with a garden as my backdrop?(sic)”

With an inclusive range of models making their way down a runway made of grass, Collina Strada continued to present her hippie-inspired and eco-conscious designs this season in the form of tie-dye prints and floral patterns. With trainers detailed with flowers finished off with a mini white fence around them, elsewhere models carried bejewelled gardening tools and Hydro Flask water bottles.

And as the AW20 season continues in New York, we still have yet to see presentations from Eckhaus Latta and No Sesso before things kick off in London this Thursday (January 13). And judging from that Eminem performance at the Oscars last night, the return of more 00s favourites doesn’t seem too distant a possibility.
