Embedding the dark aesthetic that the house evokes, the store is immersed in textured grey concrete that after much experimentation was also used in the Rick Owens furniture collection. As you head to the back of the space, the walls employ mammoth mirrors to accommodate every angle and allow for full appreciation when trying pieces from any one of his many lines that is stocked in the store: his men’s and women’s collection, DRKSHDW, Rick Owens Lilies (jersey collection) Palais Royal (fur collection) and accessories. The flagship which opened on August 29th was designed to correspond to a common ideal that Rick has for himself: “A cave, a rock and a fur by a fire” Bearing a minimal appearance and wrapped in glass, the store also carries some of Rick’s personal favourite books, CD's and DVD's as well as the furniture collection. “Japan has long been a high aesthetic reference point for me” says Owens, with delicate knits, signature draped style outerwear and exquisite leathers occupying the rails. Amongst the moody coloured wardrobe customers will also find a wax replica of his head on display. It began as a personal project for his house in Paris and has now infiltrated to his Paris and London locations as well. “It was intended as my “master of the house” portrait above the mantelpiece but I got tired of looking at myself in the house and thought it lent a perverse touch to the Paris store and VOILA."Rick Owens Tokyo, 6-5-55 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo Escape the algorithm!
