Mowalola Ogunlesi joins Fashion East menswear line-up

The Central Saint Martins graduate and newcomer Robyn Lynch join Stefan Cooke for the initiative’s AW19 show

After presenting a trio of shows under Fashion East’s MAN initiative, design labels Art School and Rottingdean Bazaar both sashayed away after debuting their SS19 collections.

Today, Fashion East has announced the two new designers, who will be joining returning talent Stefan Cooke to present their AW19 collections in January at LFWM. First up is Dazed 100-er Mowalola Ogunlesi – the Central Saint Martins graduate making waves with her Nigerian-inspired, Lagos petrolheads. “To be given free rein of your own ideas, with the support of reputable and genuinely cool backing is very rare – it feels fucking great!” she tells us.

Elsewhere, Westminster graduate Robyn Lynch – who similarly takes inspiration from her heritage – will make up the trio. Her Irish-inspired designs at the graduate show earlier this year were exclusively in the green, white, and orange colour palette of her home country’s flag. “What makes this debut different to a graduate collection is having the ability and help to express full creative control, which is sometimes not feasible with a university debut,” Lynch explains. “Fashion East allows the chance to really put your vision out to the world.”

Fashion East – which drops the MAN from its title this season – is set to present its AW19 menswear show on January 6 2019.
