Last week, Kendall Jenner was revealed as one of the models included in Love magazine’s 10th-anniversary issue. Along with a shoot, Jenner – who has a long-standing relationship with the publication – was also interviewed, and talked of the break she has recently been taking from the modelling industry. Jenner revealed she was “super selective” about the shows she would walk in and wasn’t “one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the fuck those girls do”. Soon after the magazine was released, a cut of the interview was posted to Instagram, and a number of models in the industry took offence to her comments. 

Croatian model, Farretta posted a response on her Instagram Story: “Seriously?!?!?!?!? Being lazy is not being selective. We work! Hard and giving 100% from us, but you can't say that for yourself… and after all you dare to talk like this?!” Similarly, Irina Duranović critiqued Jenner, saying, “Never been so indirectly and publicly offended in my entire life god dam!!!!!!!!!! To be called a supermodel... How easy it comes to you”. 

Elsewhere, Russian model Daria Strokous responded, saying: “‘Whatever the fuck those girls do’ is do their very best to make their way up and try to make some money so that they can provide for themselves and their families.” She added “Oh, and it’s 70 shows a season by the way. And we all are fucking proud of every single one of the girls that did it.”

Addressing the comments against her, Jenner took to Twitter saying she was ‘misrepresented’ by the magazine. “It was intended to be entirely complimentary but unfortunately, my words were twisted & taken out of context,” she said. “I get to experience first hand their tireless commitment, their work ethic, the endless days, the lack of sleep, separation from family and friends, stress of travelling, the toll on physical and mental health, yet they still make it all look effortless and beautiful.”
