Now, to mark the anniversary of two of them – My Neighbour Totoro, which was released 30 years ago and Ponyo which debuted in 2008 – there is some pretty special merch being released. The two themed bomber jackets come courtesy of the studio’s fashion brand GBL, and feature embroidery which nods to each film. The Totoro piece comes in black with brown and beige ribbed collar and hemming. Beloved character Catbus is embroidered on the back along with the text ‘NEKOBASU’ and ‘Running like a GALE’. The chest and sleeves feature more embroidered motifs from the film. Similarly, the Ponyo jacket features embroidered motifs, but comes in a blue and coral colourway, matching the nautical setting seen in the film. The text on the back reads, ‘PONYO HAS COME’. The jackets will be available on Studio Ghibli’s website from August 23. Escape the algorithm! Get The DropEmail address SIGN UP Get must-see stories direct to your inbox every weekday.
