Gosha Rubchinskiy’s Russian-inspired adidas World Cup collab is here

The Russian designer celebrates the tournament being held in his birthplace for the first time

Earlier this year, Gosha Rubchinskiy shook the fashion industry, announcing that his AW18 show would be the last. Okay, so the label isn’t actually closing, but changing the way it presents each collection.

The first offering since then joins the longstanding collaboration with adidas Football – a partnership that first debuted at his AW17 Kaliningrad show. Just in time for the World Cup, that will start in nine days time, the Russian designer has created a collection to celebrate the tournament being held in his home country for the first time.

The collection itself consists of three items per city hosting World Cup matches – including Saint Petersburg and Kaliningrad, where Rubchinskiy has previously held shows. Each set consists of a jersey for each city, boots in colours to match the Russian flag, and a ball in a special Rubchinskiy colourway. Elsewhere, there are 11 graphic sweaters – again, with each representing the Russian cities hosting matches.

The accompanying images show the collection on a group of Russian teens playing football, shot by the designer. For all fans of the partnership of the two brands, get it while you can, as this is sadly the last collaboration for the foreseeable future.

Gosha Rubchinskiy x adidas Football World Cup Kit will be released on June 14, to mark the start of the tournament.
