Addressing the subject of her weight changing she said, “those of u (sic) who called me ‘too big for the industry’ were seeing inflammation & water retention due to that.” If you aren’t familiar, the autoimmune disease attacks the thyroid gland, which can lead to symptoms including fluctuations in weight, fatigue, muscle aches and depression. Gigi explains that it can also amplify the effects of stress and excessive travel – causing her to lose weight. Despite that, she says internally she is healthier than ever. She went on to say, “I will not further explain the way my body looks, just as anyone, with a body type that doesn't suit ur (sic) ‘beauty’ expectation, shouldn't have to.” Gigi is not the only Hadid to open up about her health issues. Bella has previously spoken about her struggles with Lyme disease – a condition her mother and brother also suffer from. We wish Gigi the best with her health and commend her for sharing her story to help those who might be struggling with Hashimoto’s (or similar diseases) and how it hasn’t stopped her from pursuing a career in modelling.
