To mark its first anniversary, the brand has rounded up six international street artists, enlisting them to work on installation “The Ring of The Future” – a new mural celebrating collaboration without international borders, which sits atop the Palazzo Della Civiltà Italiana in Rome. The artists each add elements from their respective aesthetics, with Gary Stranger renowned for his graphic, edgy curvature, Hillel Smith for moving images inspired by his Jewish heritage, and Jodae his interpretations of Shamanistic symbols. Iranian artist Cave, Casper from Japan, and Roes, co-founder of the Hong Kong art collective Smile Maker HK, make up the six. Despite the artists’ cultural differences and varying artistic approaches, they share a similar outlook on the joy that can be found in art, something Fendi has been keen to explore in recent seasons. They’re not the only artists to team up with the Italian brand this season, though. A series of surreal collages featuring cheese, bananas and horses featured heavily in their AW18 menswear collection, designed as part of a collaboration with artist @hey_reilly.
