FashionNewsMichele Lamy is setting up her own boxing gym in Selfridges‘Lamyland’ will include workshops with Olympic champs and well as merch from Rick Owens, Nike and Off-WhiteShareLink copied ✔️January 4, 2018FashionNewsTextShakeena Johnson Michele Lamy is a woman full of surprises. She trained as a defence lawyer, ran the cult restaurant and cabaret club Les Deux Cafés, not to mention the fact she is married to Rick Owens. Her newest venture is an event at Selfridges that will see her set up her own boxing club. You might remember that the space previously was home to A$AP Rocky’s AWGE Bodega and will be reinvented every few months. Dubbed ‘Lamyland’, the collaboration was originally pitched to her as a jewellery collection, but Lamy was more interested in fusing two of her interests – boxing and art. “Boxing is a state of mind. It’s a place where you just think about what you are doing, in the moment. Fascinating, like playing chess,” Lamy told the Business of Fashion. Part one of the pop-up – that launches today – will showcase capsule collections of boxing equipment from the likes of Versace, Off-White, Stephen Jones, Nike and, of course, Owens too. The collection includes everything from boxing equipment and activewear to art, jewellery and fragrances. The second part – which follows the first and launches in February – will see a space inside Selfridges transformed into a fully functioning boxing gym. Those lucky enough to get in will be able to take part in workshops, an open training schedule and multiple events hosted by Lamy and boxers like Anthony Joshua and Nicola Adams. So what are you waiting for? Head down to have a spar with Lamy and make sure you’re kitted out in all the boxing-related merch you could ask for. Lamyland opens today at Selfridges London and will run until March 25.
