When Virgil Abloh starts playing Daniel Bedingfield you know making it to your desk on time tomorrow morning is a write-off. Celebrating his Fashion Awards win of Best Urban Luxe brand, last night Abloh and Dazed teamed up for an after-party to remember (or not, depending on how much gin and tequila you downed). Presented by Store X, we took over Ruin – the art installation slash post-apocalyptic club space made of fragments of now-gone venues, created by the designer and Ben Kelly at 180 Strand.
The night was kicked off with Paul Hameline DJing beneath the flashing lights as the crowd filtered in from the Awards. Georgia May Jagger (wearing custom Matty Bovan, who took over the @dazedfashion Instagram for the night) and Suki Waterhouse were quick to hit the dancefloor – as was Jordan Vickors, who headed straight into the heart of the crowd. Iris Law chatted to model Montell Martin, while a steady stream of designers made their way through the doors – names included Menswear Designer of the Year Craig Green, Gareth Pugh, Faustine Steinmetz, Blondey McCoy, Lev Tanju, Harris Reed, Ashley Williams, Dilara Findikoglu, Asai Ta, and Mimi Wade.
After he finished his set, Abloh could be seen having a chat with legendary graphic designer Peter Saville by the DJ booth, and models Jordyn Woods and Leomie Anderson danced as Benji B and Acyde got on the decks. Charles Jeffrey – who won the Emerging Menswear Talent award – and Marta Jakubowski embraced on the dancefloor, while fashionably late arrivals included a grinning Adwoa Aboah, who climbed out of a taxi sparkling in Michael Halpern following her Model of the Year win, actor Idris Elba, Skepta, and model Hailey Baldwin. DJ Peggy Gou closed out the night – but as always happens with events at 180 Strand, the party just moved upstairs to the very conveniently located Dazed offices...
