In fact, the two were such a great team that they were even spotlighted in an exhibition currently open at the Fashion Space Gallery. To celebrate some of the most breathtaking pieces the two collaborated on, Sotheby’s is opening an exhibition that will feature the impressive archive. Entitled A Life of Luxury, it opens on November 30 and will be the prelude to an auction on December 4 that will sell the collection to museums, collectors and the general public – if you’ve got a spare few grand lying around. The auction will include some of Leane’s most iconic pieces for McQueen – like the skeleton corset from SS98 and the crown of thorns from the AW96 ‘Dante’ collection – as well as items created for Isabella Blow and Daphne Guinness. “I believe that the collection represents a level of creative freedom that has no parallel today,” said Leane. “It is my hope that the endless inspiration and unadulterated joy that these pieces have brought to me… will now be shared with collectors, museums and institutes from around the world.” Find out more about the auction here.
