Taking cues from the uniform of the female fencer, the collection was all about women – a self-described feminist, Chuiri said that she is seeking to “create fashion that resembles the women of today”, while the show notes spoke of the designer’s “boldly feminine outlook”. Today, Dior unveiled its SS17 campaign – a series of images capturing this collection, shot by female photographer Brigitte Lacombe. Predominantly known for her celebrity portraiture in addition to her fashion photography, Lacombe has spent over four decades taking photos on film sets, capturing behind-the-scenes moments of some of Hollywood’s greatest films. Featuring the likes of Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep, her images are often praised for how they pull aside the cloak of celebrity that often shrouds people working in the film industry. Here however, Lacombe turns her lens on a pair of British models – identical twin sisters Ruth and May Bell, who you may recognise from the show (Ruth opened, in fact). The two are pictured modelling tailored suiting and flowing tulle evening dresses for the SS17 collection. According to Dior, these images form just a part of a wider project entitled The Women Behind The Lens, which is “a body of photographic work made exclusively by women delivering their personal vision of the collection.
