He’s also starred on the cover of Dazed, not once, but twice. Now however, He’s turned designer. The Arizonian has teamed up with iconic skate shoe brand Vans on a custom Sk8-Hi Reissue DX, which is available online and at Opening Ceremony stores around the world. Westling, who has been skating since the tender age of three, apparently took inspiration from his personal style and 90s skate scene. “I was so honoured to be a part of the Sk8-Hi campaign recently that it only felt right to choose the Sk8-Hi,” she said. “All in all, I wanted to create a shoe that I could skate in but was also different from all of my other Vans.” Westling’s involvement in the project goes beyond reworking the Sk8-Hi, though – he stars in the accompanying campaign, which is shot by LA photographer Christin Rose. However isn’t the first time he’s has worked with Vans. In fact, he’s fronted multiple campaigns for the label and was appointed brand ambassador in January – and, if you had any remaining doubts about his commitment to the label, just check out the Vans logo he’s had inked on his forearm.
