100 Years of Selfridges

Selfridges celebrates its centenary with collaborations in the iconic 109 pantone yellow and hosting a Big Yellow Music Festival.

From May Selfridges will be awash in swathes of yellow as it launches celebrations for its centenary year, throughout the store you will encounter an array of collaborations with influential designers in the synonymous Selfridges yellow.  An impressive headcount of designers have got in on the act Jimmy Choo, Lulu Guiness, Mulberry, Paul Smith, Giuseppe Zanotti, Levi's, Ralph Lauren and Smythson to name but a few. Special mention goes out to Giles Deacon's made-to-order striking eye dress and Marc Jacobs yellow makeover of the iconic Stam bag.

The store’s 100th birthday was on the 15th March, with celebratory events planned for the whole of May that include a Big Yellow music festival with performances from Patrick Wolf and Ebony Bones, DJ sets from Giles Deacon, (cue Selfridgettes dancing round in said Giles Deacon eye dress), Gay Bingo from Jonny Woo and Ma Buther, as well as fashion shows from PPQ, Nova Dando and Henry Holland. An exhibition celebrating the innovations of Gordon Selfridge will also be opening on the 2nd May.

Big Yellow Music Festival runs from 1st – 3rd May at Selfridges, Oxford Street
