This theme was reflected in the show invitation, which contained seeds and asked attendees to “Stop and smell the flowers” and in the runway, which was lined with mounds of earth created by architectural artist Maya Lin. Over the years, Lim has developed the idea of a girl who is put-together, yet young and rebellious. In this show, this vision was brought to life by rising modelling stars including Amilna Estevão. Deconstructing different materials every season, his outfits are not focused on being overly accessorised, but more on being functional – as well as good-looking. The floral theme was maintained throughout the collection in the patterns on the footwear, as well as embroidered into the delicate silk shirts and dresses. It also featured in the colour palette of the show, which focussed on earthy tones and tertiary colours. While keeping true to his signature structural approach to design, Lim also tapped into daintiness with shimmering fabrics and delicate nets holding the models’ hair in place.
