As for collaborators, the brand has teamed up with Emporio Armani, Palace Skateboards and more recently Kendrick Lamar for a collection that sought to promote peace between two gangs – Bloods and Crips – in his native Los Angeles. Now however, this iconic sportswear brand has collaborated with French fashion slash music label Maison Kitsuné. For this capsule collection, which includes a varsity jacket, t-shirt, sweatshirt and pair of shorts, the brands have returned to Reebok’s athletic roots, drawing inspiration from baseball uniforms. One baseball team in particular that provided this inspiration: the Brooklyn Dodgers. Hailing, as the name suggests from the New York borough of Brooklyn, this team played in the major league from the 1880s to the 1950s when it moved to Los Angeles and had its name changed accordingly. Its uniform however remains still a symbol of retro sportswear, which is why it inspired this collection. The Reebok Classic x Maison Kitsuné AW15 collection is available from September 12th.
