London Fashion Week is upping sticks from Somerset House and moving all the way to sleazy, neon-lit Soho. The British Fashion Council announced on Monday that SS16 will take place at Brewer Street Car Park, the art deco building (and actual functional car park) that has played host to artists like Dinos Chapman and Richard Mosse.

"We've known that we would have to move from Somerset House at some point," BFC chief executive Caroline Rush told us. "You have to change things. Having a central location that's more connected to retail in one of London's iconic creative hubs is kind of a dream come true."

"[Soho] has always been known as a creative hub, for many decades you've seen trends come out of here. You've still got the great fabric suppliers, which is the mecca for all the [fashion] students to go to... They start discovering and delevopping this relationship with Soho so being able to bring this international event here is great to put a spotlight on Soho – and it's going through such a period of transformation."

This isn't the first time that the listed building has been commandeered for fashion purposes. Last season, it hosted over 110 emerging fashion designers from nearly 30 countries as part of the International Fashion Showcase, the biggest LFW exhibition that is free and open to the public.

No wonder it's already been dubbed Fashion Park by some. In any case, editors who've been felled by the killer cobblestones at Somerset House will be happy to find a more high heel-friendly venue.
