That's the question Selfridges is setting out to answer with Agender, the new gender-neutral pop-up department that opens this week. In practice, that means stocking forward-thinking brands like Nicopanda and VFILES blurring the lines between masculine and feminine, and curating shopfloors that mix male and female offerings alike. But what does this queer utopia look like? Who are the people who populate its world? Now that's the question posed (and answered) in the new Agender campaign film, which stars Dazed 100's Hari Nef, is choreographed by Sia's "Chandelier" collaborator Ryan Heffington, and soundtracked by a new track with Devonte Hynes and Neneh Cherry. Bonus: Benjamin Milan, FKA twigs' voguing choreographer, also makes a cameo. Selfridges describes the film from resident director Kathryn Ferguson and director Alex Turvey as "a journey through space, captured in one single shot and showing the subtle push and pull between masculinity and femininity". In the film, the camera follows Nef as she enters a dark space filled with voguers breaking into their best moves and club kids and hip-hop dancers throwing down. That's the kind of utopia we want to be part of, thanks. Watch the exclusive teaser of the film below. Liked this?
