Retro sports and riding boots: Despite the frills and dainty lace-up folk-style blouses, this wasn’t a simple girlishness. Knitwear came in the form of zip up rollneck jumpers with retro sports stripes marking a chevron across the chest. Full skirted dresses were toughened up by the addition of thick leather belts, while embroidered high waisted trousers and thigh-high riding boots gave the collection a subtly equestrienne kick. The new it-shoe: Marant is famous for her much-coveted (and much copied) wedge heel trainers, but this season the designer offered a new icon – black military ankle boots complete with silver buckles and studs.
