Her debut SS15 collection last season (you can check it out here) featured hand-crafted denims that had been painstakingly frayed to gossamer thinness – every single garment had been spun, dyed and woven on a traditional handloom in her East London studio. As she puts it: "We reproduce everyday pieces, like the forgotten denim found in your dad’s wardrobe, except that we hand make them from scratch." Steinmetz's hard work has clearly paid off. For her upcoming AW15 collection, the Paris-born, London-based designer has landed Cotton USA sponsorship alongside her existing NEWGEN deal. In its 12 years of sponsorship, Cotton USA has already had a stellar run-through of London designers, including Richard Nicoll, Meadham Kirchhoff and Louise Gray. "I couldn’t think of a more fitting partnership for my brand than Cotton USA," the Central Saint Martins graduate said. "Knowing that the fibres I am using to hand make my designs have been responsibly sourced is very important to me and the fact that it is such a versatile fibre means I have room to be creative with my designs." This month, she also promised that an e-store was in the works. Until then, look out for more washed-out wonders and disassembled denim at London Fashion Week. Liked this?
