Initial reaction:
You shall go to the ball: finding herself invited to a dance with nothing to wear, Viktor & Rolf’s scrappy, sporty girl does a Gone With the Wind – turning her retro flower power curtains into an avant-garde party dress, and ensuring all eyes remain firmly on her.
At an angle:
Everything felt playfully lopsided – from t-shirts with a singular capped sleeve to huge peplums bustling out from one hip on shirt dresses. Pleats of fabric flared from shoulders, whilst asymmetric hems dropped down from high on the hip.
Let’s get physical:
The design duo sent their team of girls out to Olivia Newton-John’s 80s ode to (s)exercise “Physical”. But rather than sweatbands and spandex, an athletic side stripe on upscaled track pants and tailored cycle shorts peeking from blown out hems gave outfits a sportswear edge. Flyaway hairs stuck out of otherwise sleek ponytails, as if models had gone on a brisk jog to get to the runway.
