Initial reaction:

High fashion on the high seas. Natasha Zinko set sail for Claridge’s Drawing Room this morning, transforming it into a sunken treasure chest of fine jewellery, silk dresses and bell bottom denim, “Evening dressing for travelling women,” riffed Zinko. An antique spyglass, knotted ropes and mother of pearl gave a subtle nod to the nautical, as white sand flooded from the fireplace.

Anchors away:

Silk dresses in periwinkle, blood red, black and ivory turned to reveal peeping backs with pearls dotted down the spine. Oversized pirate shirts were cinched with old-fashioned silk and pleated bustles, accentuating the hips, while bare midriffs were skimmed with mesh and mermaid skirts swished. Like tokens from their travels, sailors' hats were re-fashioned out of 18 carat gold and turned into rings and earrings, while silver bracelets was laced with suggestive love notes – “Anchor Me”, “Love Hard On Duty”, “Dreamy” – and shoes came encrusted with pearls, as if dredged from the depths of the ocean itself.

Hidden treasures:

On her most personal jewelled memory: “The pieces I make for my husband are the most personal. He wears them everyday, although he never shows anyone," Zinko revealed. "I like it most when other people wear my designs, it’s a different pleasure, that they like it.”
