It's a chill autumn night on Wall Street, but for the Proenza girl it's already May: she's in Montauk. She didn't pack a swimsuit, but she'll be by the sea all summer long – or the freshwater pool – sucking a cigarette, seated. She'll smile at the boys; she's not rude! But no teeth. The Sinister Prep doesn't do teeth. A lil' wicked: Boxy separates opened the show: black, evergreen, and navy, with masculine tailoring. The music cuts out; silence: staccato blasts of a brass section...then python. A snaky stripe across the breast of a black viscose tee-dress felt nasty and sly for all its sobriety: Tommy Girl After Dark. A pair of knit tops sent a chill up the spine: laser-cut with narrow slits to evoke argyle. These were worn with fringed woven skirts, shivering down the runway – pure evil, and totally hot. That's all folks: Julia Bergshoeff, the golden girl of SS15, slinks off the runway, closing the show. Darkness. We click on our cells, ready to pounce on the finale with a Hyperlapse video shoot, aaaaand: out pop Jack and Laz! It's over! That's all you get. Thanks for coming. We were shocked. Maybe we shouldn't have been, but the finale parade is a mainstay fashion show ritual. Watching big-shot editors scurry toward the exit, we couldn't help but feel like the wool viscose had been pulled over our eyes. Then again, with this season's Proenza girl, you only get one shot. You'll see her when you see her – and never twice in the same night. September rolls around, and you seek her on the beach in Montauk – or maybe by the freshwater pool...but it's too late. She's already gone.
