Initial reaction:
High octane with an even higher voltage.
Pop maximalist:
It seemed only fitting that Olivier Rousteing’s best friend and Balmain’s SS14 campaign girl Rihanna spent the duration of the show hanging out backstage, before going to perform at his after party at Paris’s candid club Crazy Horse. We all love a dose of pop culture.
How it was worn:
With lots of bling – from gold hoop earrings, to red leather braided chokers and metallic arm cuffs.
Progression:
Although the collection played on the exotic – through wild Zebra prints and leopard skin dresses – this season Rousteing reinforced his almost couture-like craftsmanship. Leather straps were bound around the body to form overtly feminine silhouettes (think exaggerated hips and pulled in waists), whilst gold chains formed Elizabethan-inspired coursets and heavy metallic belts.
Soundtrack:
“Ayo Technology” by 50 Cent feat. Justin Timberlake. Listen below, and watch the full show.
We gave Olivier Rousteing a Fujifilm Instax camera to document his season, take a look at his photo diary below.
